I’ve indicated I admire Hof’s honesty and courage in admitting this. But that doesn’t mean I admire everything about him. For example, why didn’t he speak up in September of 2012, which after all was prior to Obama’s re-election? Might it have mattered? I really don’t know, but maybe. And why, oh why, had this very smart man not noticed that the biggest “policy priority” of the Obama administration has long been politics and spinning to political advantage?
Seriously, by March of 2012, how could he have not realized this? His bio doesn’t say much about his political affiliation—I would guess “Democrat” and probably “liberal Democrat”—and this is the most likely explanation for his failure to notice things that were absolutely obvious but would mean splitting with the party.
And there is no more unforgivable thought crime than splitting with the Party, regardless of the damage to the nation
Is it slip slipping away? Many seem determined to grease the skids. And as noted, the picture of the European “defence ministers” is less than inspiring.
The frightening thing, of course, is that neither of these positions are as disconnected from geopolitical reality as Obama’s remain, almost seven years into his presidency. But now we just have to hold on and survive the next fifteen months.
Obama’s outclassed here — if, that is, his goals are really those stated above. If, as many suspect, Obama is perfectly happy to see America and Europe weakened on the global scale, then he’s not incompetent at all.
Regardless of Obama’s motives, I don’t think he’s capable of discerning those of Vladimir Putin.
This demonization of their political adversaries, as Hillary did last night, and Barack Obama does often, is the hallmark of fascists. I disagree with Jim Webb on many issues, but I respect him. I think he’s finding out that he joined the wrong political party.
Obama is here to punish America for its sins, and he’s been very successful at that. That the left and many liberals continue to love him, continue to support him, is a puzzlement to many people. But why wouldn’t those who have been successfully taught that America is a great evil in the world—birthed in evil, steeped in evil, and empowered by evil; especially racial evil but also countless other evils big and small—applaud his efforts?
